
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College guard Layla Scott has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for week 10. She is the second JCCC player to be selected as player of the week this season.
The freshman out of Truman High School averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while leading the number two-ranked Cavaliers to a pair of conference victories last week.
Scott opened the week with 15 points, three rebounds and three assists in an 85-41 road win against Kansas City Kansas where she was three of six from the floor and eight of nine at the charity stripe. Capping off the week with a game-high 22 points, five rebounds, and two assists, Scott helped power JCCC to a 72-54 win over previously unbeaten and number six-ranked Highland. Scott hit six-of-14 shots in the contest (all from three-point range).
Scott currently leads the conference and ranks third in the NJCAA with 63 made three-point baskets. She also ranks second in the conference in scoring averaging 16.2 points per game and is second in 3-point field goal accuracy, making 38 percent of her long range attempts.
