JCCC’s Tamia Smith named KJCCC D-II Player of the Week for week 11

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College guard Tamia Smith has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for week 11. This marks the third consecutive week a JCCC player has been selected.

The freshman out of Blue Valley Northwest High School averaged a double-double of 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds to lead the No. 2-ranked Cavaliers to a pair of victories last week. 

On Wednesday at No. 14 Allen, Smith drained 7-of-10 shots including a 3-pointer to finish with a game-high 15 points. Smith also grabbed 10 rebounds in the game against the Red Devils before recording her fourth double-double of the season on Saturday in a 97-15 blowout over Labette by finishing with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds 

For the season Smith is averaging 9.1 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game, which ranks her fifth among KJCCC Division II players. Her 145 total rebounds also rank fifth in the conference. She also connecting on 51. 4 percent of her shot attempts which is fifth-best in the conference. 

Smith and her teammates travel to Fort Scott to take on the Greyhounds Wednesday night in a KJCCC D-II tilt, then return home to host Saint Mary JV on Thursday, January 30 at 5:30 p.m.
