
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the second time this season, Johnson County Community College freshman guard Layla Scott has earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week. It is also the fourth straight week a JCCC players has taken home the weekly honor.
Scott averaged 18.3 points, shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range to help lead the number two ranked Cavaliers to three victories last week and remain unbeaten at 23-0.
Scott began the week with 15 points in a 78-32 win at Fort Scott and followed with back-to-back 20-point efforts in an 86-48 win over Saint Mary JV and a 104-30 victory Hesston. The freshman made 10 three-point field goals during the week to up her conference leading total to 81. Scott is currently on pace to become just the fifth JCCC player to make over 100 three-point baskets in a single-season.
