Katie Reihmann made the jump back into coaching basketball four years ago, and was reunited with JCCC head coach Ben Conrad for the third time in her career. She played for Conrad at both Des Moines Area Community College and Upper Iowa University.
In her four seasons on staff, Reighmann has helped the Lady Cavaliers to a 123-8 record (.939) including three consecutive 30+ win seasons. JCCC has also claimed four consecutive conference titles (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), three straight Region 6/Plains District championships (2022, 2023, 2024), four NJCAA D-II Tournament berths with runner-up finished in 2021 and 2024 and a fifth-place finish in 2022. The program has also appeared in all 56 NJCAA Polls while ranking in the top five in all 56, including 16 at No. 1 in the nation.
In addition to the team accomplishments during Reihman’s stint on the staff, the program has also produced six NJCAA Division II All-Americans (Jaylen Townsend-2021, LaJahda Boyland-2021, Kierra Prim-2022, Nariyah Simmons-2023, Mackenzie Hart-2023, Saige Grampsas-2024, Jazzy Kline-2024), four WBCA All-Americans (Presley Barton-2021, Kierra Prim-2021, Mackenzie Hart-2023, Saige Gampsas-2024), eight World Exposure Report All-Americans (Jaylen Townsend-2021 & 2022, LaJahda Boyland-2021, Kierra Prim-2022, Mackenzie Hart-2023, Nariyah Simmons-2023, Saige Grampsas-2024, Jazzy Klinge-2024 ), one NJCAA D-II National Player of the Year (Jaylen Townsend), five NJCAA D-II National All-Tournament selections (Jaylen Townsend-202, Kierra Prim-2021 & 2022, Saige Grampsas-2024, Jazzy Klinge-2024), one World Exposure Report Sophomore of the Year (Kierra Prim-2022), two NJCAA All-Stars (LaJahda Boyland-2021, Jaylen Townsend-2021), 16 All-Region 6 selections, 16 All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II performers, three conference MVPs (Jaylen Townsend-2021, Kierra Prim-2022, Mackenzie Hart-2023), two conference Defensive Player of the Year (Nariyah Simmons-2022, Amani Henry-2024) and one conference Freshman of the Year (Nariyah Simmons-2022).
Reihman spent four seasons (2012-16) as head coach for the Fort Scott Community College Greyhound Women’s basketball program. She compiled a record of 41-82, which ranks her sixth out of 21 all-time coaches in Fort Scott women’s basketball history. In her final campaign, Reilman guided the Lady Greyhounds to a 15-16 record, the program’s best mark since 2008-09.
Individually Reilman coached four All-Region VI players and three All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference players. Off the court, one player received Exemplary Academic Achievement honors and seven players received KJCCC All Academic honors. Her 2013-2014 team achieved a 3.43 GPA to finish ranked 15th in the team GPA nationally.
Reihmann spent two years as the assistant coach at Fort Scott Community College before becoming the head coach in 2012. She came to Fort Scott after spending the 2009-10 season as the assistant coach at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. She assisted with on-the-floor coaching, strength and conditioning exercises, scouting/film breakdown, recruiting, and other duties as assigned.
Prior to Southwestern, Reihmann started her professional coaching career as an assistant coach for the North Fayette High School girls’ basketball team and was the head junior varsity coach for the 2007-08 season.
Reihmann spent two seasons playing at Des Moines Area Community College - Boone Campus from 2003-05. During the 2004-05 seasons she was the team captain and earned accolades as a second-team All-Region selection, while leading the conference in 3-point field goals with 121. She averaged 13.1 points per game, second-best on the team, along with 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists to lead the Bears to a 24-8 record.
Reilman still holds the current record at DMACC in three-point field goals made in a season. She ranks second all-time in career 3-pointers made with 133, career 3-point field goal percentage at .377 (133-for-353), and fourth in season 3-point field goal percentage at 392. She also owns five of the top seven single-game performances for 3-point shooting. Three times she knocked down eight treys in a game, and two other times made seven beyond the arc in a game.
Reilman then transferred to play the 2005-2006 season at NCAA Division I Ohio University in Athens, OH. The following 2006-2007 season she returned home to finish her career with NCAA DII Upper Iowa University in Fayette. At Upper Iowa, she was the team captain and repeated her record leading the conference in 3-point field goals per game.
Reihmann graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Upper Iowa in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s in fitness/wellness. Then she received her Master’s in 2010 from Ohio University in Recreation and Sports Science.
